Muji’s Large Aroma Diffuser

As you might know from reading my blog on a regular basis, I always try to strike a balance between fun and health in my lifestyle choices. No product has ever made this easier than Muji’s Aroma Diffuser 🙂Muji2

For as long as Yankee Candles and petroleum based candles in general have been around, experts have warned about the risks of inhaling mineral oil based candle fumes. Even though I try not to be too scared and will certainly continue to burn a gorgeous Yankee Candle every once in a while, I cannot deny that the perspective of inhaling petroleum has been slightly putting me off in the past.

As an alternative, I have always liked the idea of using essential oils: However, the flimsy ceramic tea-light diffusers have just been unnerving me with their ineffectiveness and constant need for a water and/or candle refill. Hence, Muji’s Aroma Diffuser has been a total life changer for me 🙂

As you can (at least partially) see in the pictures, Muji’s sleek little gadget diffuses an essential oil of your choice with the help of ultrasonic waves and water steam that it emits in a constant, perfectly powerful, cold and dry (!) beam. You are in control of the intensity of scent, because you can add as much or as little essential oils as you want to. Plus, the selection of oils is literally endless, especially since you can create your own blends. What I like most about this gadget apart from its clean Japanese design is the fact that it doubles as a lamp that can even be dimmed. The second (and last) button on the device allows you to set up the operating time (30, 60, 120 or 180 minutes): All you have to do is to take off the lid, to fill in your (distilled) water and essential oils, to put the lid back on and to opt for a time and lightening set-up. 30 seconds well invested 🙂

Muji’s Large Aroma Diffuser retails at around 90 € in Germany, which might seem like a lot at first, but equals the price of only three large Yankee candles: Personally, I don’t see how this device should ever break, hence it should end up being a lot more economical than candles. The diffuser is also avilable in a smaller size, which should do the job just as well in my opinion, since, as I said, the intensity of scent depends of the amount of essential oil, not on the size of the device.

All in all, Muji’s Aroma Diffuser is a perfect, health-conscious addition to any room scent lover’s collection 🙂
